Timezones and Datetimes

Excelendar has a robust system in place for managing dates/times and timezones. In Outlook Calendar, every event has its own timezone, which is useful for international travel - so when importing a calendar there are several essential columns: Start/End Date & Time, and Event Start/End Date & Time.

The Start/End columns correspond to the dates and times of events in the timezone configured in the add-in Settings. This is set to your Outlook timezone by default, but you can change it in the Settings which will update the Start/End Dates & Times to be displayed in your preferred time zone.

The Event Date/Time columns correspond to the dates and times in the event's own timezone which is specified by the Start TZ and End TZ columns. In 'Local Times' mode (the default), the Event Date/Time columns are hidden and will be updated automatically when you edit the Start/End Date/Time. You can also chose 'Prefer Event Date/Time' in the Settings, whereby edits made to the Event Date/Time columns will update the hidden Start/End Date/Time columns accordingly.

This system allows you to edit events in either your own chosen time zone or in the event's time zone, and whichever one you edit - the other will be adjusted accordingly
